Football Recap: Carol City Piles Up the Points Against South Miami

Carol City got themselves on the board against South Miami on Thursday, but South Miami never followed suit. They breezed past the Cobras to the tune of 29-0. That looming 29-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Chiefs yet this season.

Leading Carol City to victory were Justin Compere and Russell Britton. Compere rushed for 132 yards and one score on only 12 carries, while Britton threw for 196 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 86.4% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Britton a new career-high in passing touchdowns (two). 116 of those passing yards were hauled in by Santana Blount.

Carol City's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games. As for South Miami, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Carol City will head out on the road to take on North Miami Beach at 7:30 p.m. on the 10th. The Chargers' defense has only allowed 12.4 points per game this season, so the Chiefs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for South Miami, they will host Belen Jesuit at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
