North Moore and Bartlett Yancey are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. North Moore will take on Bartlett Yancey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Moore has four straight victories, Bartlett Yancey has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Thursday, North Moore made easy work of The O'Neal School and carried off a 14-2 win. Considering the Mustangs have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Beau Lambert and Aidan Corfios were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Lambert tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Corfios struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). At the plate, Lambert scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Corfios scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Dalton Massey and Dawson Futrell did most of the damage at the plate: Massey went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Futrell scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That home run marked the first that Massey launched this season. John Carre was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, while it was Bartlett Yancey who put the first points on the board on Wednesday, it was Clover Garden School who put up more. Bartlett Yancey fell just short of Clover Garden School by a score of 5-4.
North Moore's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bartlett Yancey, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
North Moore was able to grind out a solid victory over Bartlett Yancey in their previous meeting on Tuesday, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for North Moore since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
