Softball Recap: Phoenix Has No Trouble Against Mazama

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Henley, Phoenix was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Mazama Vikings with a sharp 17-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Carsyn Sousa was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Rylie Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Phoenix always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Phoenix's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Mazama, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.

Phoenix will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mazama: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
