The Bear River Bears will square off against the Bountiful Redhawks at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
Bear River managed to slip by Davis the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bears lost 7-1 to the Darts on Wednesday. The Bears' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Bear River saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alice Roche, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Allie Aoki also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Bountiful faced Cyprus in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Redhawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Pirates 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Redhawks in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won six in a row.
Carpenter Dylan made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Dylan was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, McKinley Duryea and Peyton Orchard did most of the damage at the plate: Duryea went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Orchard went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Duryea has posted since back in April of 2025. Kamryn Rasmussen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
Bountiful kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cyprus only managed eight.
Bountiful's record is now 3-4. As for Bear River, the defeat was their first at home, dropping their record down to 4-2.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bear River hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Bountiful struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bear River couldn't quite finish off Bountiful in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 and fell 3-1. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
