Avery Wilson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Union Academy got a massive performance out of Carlie Granger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That stolen base was Granger's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Paisley Boatright, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Union Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matches, Lee Park Prep finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They came up short against Charlotte Christian, falling 12-0. Lee Park Prep's loss signaled the end of their undefeated season.
Having lost for the first time this season, Lee Park Prep fell to 3-1. As for Union Academy, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Union Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .480. However, it's not like Lee Park Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
