Brooks and Simeon are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2019, but likely not for long. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Brooks is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
Monday just wasn't the day for Brooks' offense. They came up short against Morgan Park on Monday, falling 10-0.
Brooks saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jared Ramsey, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
Simeon never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Solorio on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Sun Warriors with a sharp 14-2 win. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Antonio Porterfield spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up six Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Simeon's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 6-8-1 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Cavion Danley was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Daniel Jones Jr, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Simeon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Simeon's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9-1. As for Brooks, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brooks has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Simeon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brooks took their win against Simeon when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
