Dylan Palmer was incredible, firing off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. He has become a key player for East Wake Academy: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Robbie Johnston, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Palmer wasn't the only one working in the hit department: East Wake Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as American Leadership Academy-Johnston only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wake Prep Academy). They had just enough and edged out New Life Camp 9-8 on Wednesday.
Sawyer Pierce looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jakob Howell and Harrison Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Howell went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Brown scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those hits marked the first that Howell got this season. Easton Booser was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Wake Prep Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. East Wake Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
Wake Prep Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: East Wake Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Wake Prep Academy, though, as they've only averaged .240. Will they be able to contain East Wake Academy's hitters?
