Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lanier, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They put the hurt on Jefferson with a sharp 20-4 victory on Tuesday. That 16-run margin sets a new team best for the Voks this season.
Klarissa Fuentes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jesal Reyes and Miley Lopez did most of the damage at the plate: Reyes went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Lopez went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Lopez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jada Marroquin, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
Lanier always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson only posted an OBP of .235.
Brackenridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-20. As for Lanier, their win bumped their record up to 9-14.
