6A Region 4 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Biloxi's Mousa Hasan rumbled for the longest rushing play in 6A Region 4 this season in his game against George County last week. Hasan's team beat the Rebels as he sprinted for 65 yards on the play and finished with 98 in all.
Lucas Blair and Niecill McNair provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Hancock. The connection went for 81 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.
Jaylen Woullard put up the best numbers through the air as Biloxi bested George County. He finished with 14 completions for 198 yards and one touchdown. Woullard's favorite target this week was Scott Austin, who caught five passes for 79 yards.
Tyler Polk was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 132 yards on 13 carries as St. Martin fell to D'Iberville. Teammate Demontrae Boudreaux added to the ground attack by rushing for 103 yards.
Morrow was the best wideout in 6A Region 4 this week as the Greyhounds fell to the Warriors. Morrow racked up 10 receptions for 148 yards. Jordan Brown helped Ocean Springs' passing attack out by catching three balls for 24 yards.
Ocean Springs' Wes Windham and Morrow have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Windham has thrown for 1187 yards this season, while Morrow has 40 catches for 631 yards. Christian Williams from Gulfport leads the league in rushing with 464 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Hawks take on D'Iberville. Hancock is currently in sixth, while Buddy Singleton's team is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when John Shannon's team and the Greyhounds face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Indians comes in having scored 217 this season, while Ocean Springs has scored 139. Biloxi scored 27 points last week as it topped John Douglass's team.
The Admirals were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, Gulfport defeated Harrison Central 14-0.
