St. Michael is 8-2 against Santa Fe Indian since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Horsemen are taking a road trip to face off against the Braves at 3:00 p.m. St. Michael's is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
St. Michael's fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Robertson on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 10-9. The Horsemen's loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Michael Giesler was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. He is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as he's now brought in three or more in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Santa Fe Indian entered their tilt with Rehoboth Christian on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Lynx with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by nine runs or more this season.
Kendall Tenorio was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Talyn Kewanletzema, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Santa Fe Indian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Santa Fe Indian's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Michael's, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Michael's hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Santa Fe Indian struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Michael's skirted past Santa Fe Indian 6-5 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Horsemen repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
