The Midlothian Panthers waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 47-28 win over Joshua. Given Midlothian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 191st, while Joshua is ranked 914th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Midlothian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Gilmore, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Gilmore is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Another player making a difference was Case Garcia, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Midlothian is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Joshua, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-20.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Burleson the next time they take the court. Joshua will head out to face Burleson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Midlothian will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
