Exeter has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Dos Palos Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Exeter will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Exeter had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on Roosevelt with a sharp 45-22 win on Thursday. Considering Exeter has won five matchups by more than 21 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Dos Palos came tearing into Thursday's matchup with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 45-28 win over Santa Maria.
Dos Palos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Andre Flores, who rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns. Sixto Ibarra was in the mix as well, providing Dos Palos with two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Exeter to 11-1 and Dos Palos to 10-1.
Exeter was dealt a bruising 41-0 loss at the hands of Dos Palos when the teams last played back in September of 2021. Thankfully for Exeter, Trent Calvert (who rushed for 42 yards and four touchdowns, and also threw for 127 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
