After flying high against Mississippi School for the Deaf last Wednesday, Leake County came back down to earth. Leake County lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Daishone Turner, who went 5 for 11 en route to 12 points along with six steals and five assists. Turner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season. Krysten Morgan was another key player, going 6 of 9 on her way to 14 points in addition to five assists and three steals.
Even though they lost, Leake County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matchups.
Taylorsville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayla Nixon out in front who posted 12 points. Those 12 points gave Nixon a new career-high. Another player making a difference was London Young, who had 12 points.
Leake County's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-13. As for Taylorsville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a massive bump to their 16-13 record this season.
