New Palestine had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding 52-0 win over the Kokomo Wildkats. The Dragons are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 14 straight dating back to last season.
New Palestine's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caden Jacobia, who rushed for 116 yards and one score. Jacobia was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 69 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Ranes, who rushed for 83 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: New Palestine was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 377 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 176 rushing yards in 15 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 16 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Mason Oglesby, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
