Grove City has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Hickory Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Grove City never let their opponents score. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 35-0 win over Fort LeBoeuf. Given Grove City's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Fort LeBoeuf is ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Hunter Hohman, who rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 307 yards and three touchdowns while completing 89.5% of his passes. Hohman really tore up the turf during one magnificent 87-yard run. Gavin Lutz also helped out as he racked up 122 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Hickory entered their tilt with General McLane with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Hickory claimed a resounding 44-12 victory over General McLane at home.
Their wins bumped Grove City to 7-3 and Hickory to 8-2.
Things could have been worse for Grove City, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 29-15 loss to Hickory in their previous meeting back in October. Can Grove City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
