St. John Bosco and Mater Dei are battling to keep their seasons alive when they face off in a playoff match this Saturday at 7:00 PM. St. John Bosco has been tearing up the end zone with big points in its last six contests.
You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's just how it played out between St. John Bosco and Centennial last week. St. John Bosco took its contest against Centennial by a conclusive 62 - 34 score. Junior George Holani was especially active in the win, finding the end zone an impressive four times. Holani has also now scored at least one touchdown in the past five consecutive games. Sophomore DJ Uiagalelei got in on the action, too, by scoring two touchdowns.
As for Mater Dei, it can now show off 11 landslide victories after its most recent game. It had all the answers against Mission Viejo last week, winning 49 - 21. Junior JT Daniels deserves a lot of the credit as he tossed the ball for 199 yards and two TDs. Daniels supplied the game with one of its most unforgettable moments, a 52-yard punt return for a touchdown in the second quarter. Daniels should be a familiar name as he has been a major contributor for Mater Dei in the past 13 games.
Their wins bumped Mater Dei to 13-0 and St. John Bosco to 11-2. These are two of the top teams in the nation (St. John Bosco is ranked 3rd, Mater Dei 1st), so it should shape up to be an exciting match.
