The Quincy Notre Dame Raiders will face off against the Rochester Rockets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Quincy Notre Dame proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 14) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over Pittsfield. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Saukees recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Abram Wiewel was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Logan Sutton, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Rochester had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Dragons a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Rockets, who have now won seven matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Ajay Runkel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Rochester let Sam Ferris and Jorey Myren run wild. Ferris went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double, while Myren got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Myren has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Carlson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Rochester's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Quincy Notre Dame, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Quincy Notre Dame has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. However, it's not like Rochester struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
