Basketball Recap: Freedom Christian Academy Drops Season-High Score on South Wake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Freedom Christian Academy). They breezed by the South Wake Sabres to the tune of 95-60 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Patriots have posted since November 14th.

Karsten Swinney was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 33 points and nine assists. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bryce West, who posted 24 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Freedom Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, South Wake still got an impressive performance from Noah Wright, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of JJ Gugelman, who had four points and three steals.

Freedom Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for South Wake, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.

Freedom Christian Academy will take on Oak City Prep in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Freedom Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully Oak City Prep likes a good challenge. South Wake and Oak Forest will compete for holiday cheer at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. South Wake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.5 points per game this season.
