It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Oak Grove had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Crest Chargers. The win was nothing new for the Grizzlies as they're now sitting on six straight.
Carson Everhart spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Cam Sharpe was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Hart, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Oak Grove pushed their record up to 16-10 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Crest, with the loss, they broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-5.
Looking ahead, Oak Grove will square off against North Davidson on Tuesday. The Black Knights will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight. Crest does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
