Marriotts Ridge took an ego-bruising defeat against Glenelg last Friday, but they kept their chin up and bounced back on Saturday. Marriotts Ridge took their match against Atholton on Saturday 21-7. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Marriotts Ridge as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Atholton's loss came about despite a quality game from senior Melvin Brown, who rushed for 142 yards and 1 touchdown. Brown has been a consistent playmaker for Atholton as this was the 7th good game in a row from him. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse sophomore Nyukechen Agbor-baiyee, who racked up nine tackles.
The win bumped Marriotts Ridge's record up to 4-3. Atholton are on a three-game losing streak that has brought their record down to 2-5.
Both teams are staying within the conference for their upcoming matches. Marriotts Ridge will be playing at home against Wilde Lake at at 7:00 PM next week. As for Atholton, they will face off against Oakland Mills.
