The St. Augustine Prep Hermits were the 72-58 winner over the Middle Township Panthers when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. St. Augustine Prep fell 56-48 to Middle Township on Monday. While losing is never fun, St. Augustine Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Middle Township is ranked fifth).
Leading Middle Township to victory were Jamir McNeil and Anthony Trombetta. McNeil scored ten points along with seven assists and four steals, while Trombetta went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 23 points and 1 assists. That makes it three consecutive games in which Trombetta has scored at least 25% of Middle Township's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amir Elston, who scored nine points.
St. Augustine Prep's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Middle Township, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Augustine Prep will square off against Egg Harbor Township at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Egg Harbor Township is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home. As for Middle Township, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
