The McBee Panthers will be playing at home against the Cheraw Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. McBee will be strutting in after a win while Cheraw will be coming in after a loss.
McBee had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They snuck past Chesterfield with a 55-50 victory on Monday.
Among those leading the charge was Tyrek Wright, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 6 steals. Jakari Holloman was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Cheraw, who are still winless after their fourth match. They had to suffer through a rough 68-37 loss at the hands of Forest Hills. Cheraw has struggled against Forest Hills recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Cheraw saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. De'Shaun Drake, who scored 8 points, was perhaps the best of all. Drake continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Leak, who scored 4 points along with 8 rebounds.
McBee's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Cheraw, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
McBee came up short against Cheraw in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 50-44. Thankfully for McBee, Zay Brown (who scored 21 points along with 6 steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
