Saint Francis has not lost a match in the yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Serra a 2-0 shutout.
Saint Francis was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Reece Wyatt and
Andrew Huber, who scored both of Saint Francis' goals. The pair have combined for a total of ten so far this season.
Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, St. Ignatius College Preparatory made sure to put some goals up on the board against Valley Christian on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 5-1 win. With St. Ignatius College Preparatory ahead 4-1 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Saint Francis' victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-0-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those eight matchups. As for St. Ignatius College Preparatory, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8-2.
Saint Francis beat St. Ignatius College Preparatory by a goal when the teams last played back in January, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Saint Francis since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
