The Jay M. Robinson Bulldogs will take on the West Rowan Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Jay M. Robinson comes in on six and West Rowan on three.
Jay M. Robinson's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They really took it to South Rowan for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 28 points or more this season.
Jay M. Robinson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lj Watson, who rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Ennis Stiles was another key rusher, rushing for 92 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Jay M. Robinson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 287 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday West Rowan sidestepped East Rowan for a 35-33 victory. Things were looking grim for the Falcons in the third quarter (they were down by 20) but they stormed back to get the contest.
West Rowan's win came from a few key players Jay M. Robinson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cooper Martin, who rushed for 101 yards and one score on only nine carries. His longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brant Graham, who threw for 174 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 passes.
West Rowan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Kaden Sanders and Jamih Tucker. Tucker got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
West Rowan now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Jay M. Robinson, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Jay M. Robinson has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 231.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like West Rowan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 243.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Jay M. Robinson against West Rowan when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 48-7 victory. In that contest, the Bulldogs amassed a halftime lead of 34-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
