Basketball Game Preview: Coral Springs Colts vs. South Broward Bulldogs

The Coral Springs Colts will head out on the road to square off against the South Broward Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Coral Springs is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.7 points per game this season.

Coral Springs is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 19, 2023 on Wednesday. They lost 63-41 to St. Thomas Aquinas. The Colts haven't had much luck with the Raiders recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Despite the loss, Coral Springs saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Nethania Noel-Jeune went 8 of 19 on her way to 21 points. The game was Noel-Jeune's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinety Dajuste, who posted ten points and three blocks.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Broward, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Stoneman Douglas by a score of 40-28 on Friday.

Coral Springs better keep an eye on Ayonna Lewis. She was instrumental in South Broward's win, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Lewis a new career-high in assists (five). Another player making a difference was Kalia Adams, who had six points in addition to 12 rebounds and four blocks.

South Broward's record is now 10-8. As for Coral Springs, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-4.

Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's match: Coral Springs has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 37.7% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for South Broward, though, as they've only made 18.9% of their three-pointers this season. Given Coral Springs' sizable advantage in that area, South Broward will need to find a way to close that gap.

Coral Springs couldn't quite finish off South Broward in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 and fell 49-46. Can Coral Springs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
