The West Elk Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Bluestem Lions on Monday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, West Elk beat the Devils 59-46.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bluestem beat the Red Devils 49-44 on Friday. Given Bluestem's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Red Devils are ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
West Elk's win bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Bluestem, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4-1.
West Elk came up short against the Lions in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 33-27. Can West Elk avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
