Basketball Recap: Fike Piles Up the Points Against Smithfield-Selma

Fike was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Smithfield-Selma on Tuesday. The Fike Demons simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Smithfield-Selma Spartans 87-41. That 46 point margin sets a new team best for the Demons this season.

Leading Fike to victory were Brayden Jones and William Monk. Jones went 7 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and three steals, while Monk almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Monk's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jamir Loftin, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

Fike was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Fike has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Smithfield-Selma, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fike will face off against C.B. Aycock at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fike knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully C.B. Aycock likes a good challenge. As for Smithfield-Selma, they will welcome West Johnston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
