Baseball Recap: Rantoul Extends Winning Streak to Two

Rantoul lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Villa Grove, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's match. Rantoul never let Villa Grove get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Monday. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 7-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Dalton Gernentz and Eli Reichenbach made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Gernentz tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Reichenbach didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. At bat, Gernentz scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Reichenbach went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Yovanny Solorzano was incredible, scoring a run while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Levi Duitsman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Rantoul kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Villa Grove only managed one hit.

Rantoul has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.5 runs this season. As for Villa Grove, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Looking ahead, Rantoul will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Schlarman at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Villa Grove, they will face off against Tuscola at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
