After only 23 points in their last game, the Astoria/VIT Rebels made sure to put some points up on the board against the Rushville-Industry Rockets on Monday. Astoria/VIT sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-58 win over Rushville-Industry. That's another feather in the cap for Astoria/VIT, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
TOMMI GORSUCH was her usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Astoria/VIT's points. KATE STAMBAUGH was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Astoria/VIT's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Rushville-Industry, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Astoria/VIT will face off against Farmington at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Farmington is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Rushville-Industry's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mendon Unity at 6:00 p.m. on December 4th. Mendon Unity presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rushville-Industry in Illinois (Mendon Unity is ranked 155th, while Rushville-Industry is ranked 501st).
