There's no place like home for The Thomas Jefferson Spartans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against Denver South by a score of 21-12 on Thursday. This was payback for Thomas Jefferson, who suffered a 49-20 loss the last time these two teams met.
Among those leading the charge was Dimitri Haralambopoulos, who rushed for 96 yards, and also threw for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
Denver South's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Chevelle Early, who rushed for 102 yards on only 13 carries.
Thomas Jefferson's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Greeley West and 1-9 Pomona (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28% over those games). As for Denver South, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4.
Thomas Jefferson will face off against Standley Lake at TBD on Thursday. Standley Lake comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Denver South, they will square off against Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Vista Ridge is ranked 53rd, while Denver South is ranked 61st).
