Silver Stage is 0-3 against Smith Valley since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Silver Stage Nighthawks will be staying on the road to face off against the Smith Valley Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Silver Stage comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 19 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Last Tuesday, Silver Stage was beaten by Coral Academy of Science - Reno 46-12. Silver Stage has not had much luck with Coral Academy of Science - Reno recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Meanwhile, Smith Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Eureka, falling 46-10. While losing is never fun, Smith Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Eureka is ranked 11th).
Silver Stage bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 13.3 points per game. As for Smith Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Things could have been worse for Silver Stage, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-34 loss to Smith Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2016. Can Silver Stage avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
