If the River Dell Golden Hawks were feeling good off their 66-39 takedown of the Secaucus Patriots on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. River Dell fell just short of North Bergen by a score of 59-57. Even though they lost, River Dell's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.5 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Despite the loss, River Dell still got an impressive performance from Sean Golden, who dropped a double-double on 37 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Golden's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Liam Hickey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six assists.
Even though they lost, River Dell were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
River Dell has fallen quite a ways from their 21-7 record last season and are now at 2-4. As for North Bergen, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River Dell will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Ramsey at 7:00 p.m. on January 2nd. Ramsey is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for North Bergen, they will head out on the road to face off against Snyder at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Jersey (Snyder is ranked 286th, while North Bergen is ranked 271st).
