After flying high against the Waskom Wildcats last Tuesday, the Troup Tigers came back down to earth. Troup fell 51-43 to West Rusk on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Troup in their matchups with West Rusk: they've now lost three in a row.
West Rusk's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Keke Murphy, who scored 11 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. Murphy has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 20 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamyah Lacy, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Troup's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for West Rusk, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-17.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Troup will square off against Arp at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Arp is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for West Rusk, they will head out on the road to challenge Waskom at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
