Inlet Grove extended their losing streak to ten on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-10. They fell 9-4 to the Pahokee Blue Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-2 back in February.
Anthony Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Brandon McNaughton made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Seth Campbell also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
As for Pahokee, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games.
On Pahokee's side, Isaac Sarmiento made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Those ten strikeouts gave Sarmiento a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Tiyler Rothstein and Markevious Perry did most of the damage at the plate: Rothstein got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs, while Perry went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. The dominant performance also gave Rothstein a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Cornelious Young, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Inlet Grove will welcome Glades Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.71 runs per game on average), something the Hurricanes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pahokee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Glades Day at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
