Washington hasn't had much luck against Fairfax recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rams will host the Stampede at 3:45 p.m. Washington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
La Joya Community hit Washington with a four-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rams lost 9-2 to the Lobos.
Washington saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jonathan Martinez Luna, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, Fairfax had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 13-3 win. Considering the Stampede have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Alexander Tovar was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Fairfax is undefeated when Tovar posts three or more RBI, but 5-11 otherwise. Jesus Gurule was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Fairfax was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .522. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in six consecutive matchups.
Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Fairfax, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Washington has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fairfax struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Washington might still be hurting after the 16-6 loss they got from Fairfax when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
