It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Thurston-Cuming County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Louisville Lions. Winning may never get old, but Thurston-Cuming County sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Trevor Trimble was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Thurston-Cuming County let Braylen Wegner and Jake Schuster run wild. Wegner scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4, while Schuster got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Schuster has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Kneifl, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Thurston-Cuming County pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Louisville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
