Notre Dame-Green Pond has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Pen Argyl Green Knights at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. Notre Dame-Green Pond knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully the Green Knights like a good challenge.
Last Wednesday, Notre Dame-Green Pond didn't have too much trouble with the Panthers at home as they won 57-39. Given Notre Dame-Green Pond's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Panthers are ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Pen Argyl was the victim of a rough 42-20 loss at the hands of the Lions on Thursday. Pen Argyl has struggled against the Lions recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Pen Argyl's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Holland, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds, and Chase Kennedy who scored six points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Holland has scored all season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Pen Argyl struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They are winless (0-3) when they just don't pass the ball.
Notre Dame-Green Pond's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Pen Argyl, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which is still a better percentage than their 4-16 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Notre Dame-Green Pond against the Green Knights when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 58-24 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Notre Dame-Green Pond since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
