The Falkner Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Strayhorn Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Falkner is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Falkner took a 12-run loss the last time they faced off against Wheeler, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Falkner came out on top in a nail-biter against Wheeler on Friday, sneaking past 3-1.

Nolan Ashley made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Falkner: the team is undefeated when he posts at least ten strikeouts, but 7-8 otherwise. Ashley was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played.
Ashley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Colee Stroupe, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Strayhorn let Water Valley stack seven runs on them in the fifth inning on Thursday but luckily Strayhorn prevailed anyway. The Mustangs had just enough and edged out the Blue Devils 10-9. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
The team relied heavily on Aiyden Saulsberry, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Haskins, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Falkner's record is now 12-8. As for Strayhorn, their record now sits at 8-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Falkner has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Strayhorn struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Falkner got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in February against Strayhorn by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
