Krystian Abbott and Khalil Bailey provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Piper. The connection went for 80 yards, the longest such play in Kaw Valley this season.
The Pirates were the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in the league. Piper defeated Lansing 56-40 earlier in the week.
Bailey had a great week catching the football as the Lions fell to Chris Brindle's team. He caught 7 passes for 247 yards.
Abbott threw for 444 yards and 6 touchdowns. He went 21-37 with 3 interceptions.
Bailey was the best receiver in the league this week as Lansing lost to the Pirates. Bailey racked up 7 receptions for 247 yards. Colin McQuillan helped Lansing's passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 100 yards.
Leading Kaw Valley in both passing and receiving yards, Bill Pekarek's team's Abbott and Bailey have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Abbott has thrown for 1,678 yards this season, while Bailey has 35 catches for 886 yards. Cole Holloway from Tonganoxie leads the league in rushing with 715 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Mill Valley takes on Piper. The Jaguars are currently in first, while the Pirates are in fourth.
Basehor-Linwood scaled the state rankings by moving to 134 from 162 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Bobcats climbed the ranks as a result of topping Turner 49-13.
