Bolivar-Richburg is a perfect 10-0 against Cuba-Rushford since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Wolverines are taking a road trip to take on the Rebels at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bolivar-Richburg has three straight victories, Cuba-Rushford has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Bolivar-Richburg and Genesee Valley, and Bolivar-Richburg kept the tradition alive. The Wolverines came out on top against the Jaguars by a score of 6-3 on Tuesday.
Rylee Whiting made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Whiting was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayna Thomas, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was her first of the season. Kylee Whiting was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Cuba-Rushford couldn't beat Fillmore on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the sixth inning. The Rebels fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 11-9. Rebels fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Eagles since on Tuesday.
Aubrey Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The win got Bolivar-Richburg back to even at 3-3. As for Cuba-Rushford, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Bolivar-Richburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Cuba-Rushford in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 4-0. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
