Holbrook has gone a perfect 8-0 against Monument Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Roadrunners will head out to take on the Mustangs at 11:00 a.m. Holbrook will be strutting in after a win while Monument Valley will be coming in after a loss.
Holbrook not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 4th. They came out on top against Joseph City by a score of 10-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Roadrunners haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Baler Reidhead and Justin Maestas were a major factor no matter where they played. On the mound, Reidhead struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Maestas tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Reidhead has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Reidhead went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Maestas scored four runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-3. Those two doubles gave Reidhead a new career-high.
In other batting news, Matthias Montijo was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Tilden Larson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Monument Valley fell victim to Page and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Sand Devils, falling 9-0. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Holbrook's record now sits at 7-10. As for Monument Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
Monument Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Holbrook hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Monument Valley, though, as they've only averaged .170. Will they be able to contain Holbrook's hitters?
Everything went Holbrook's way against Monument Valley when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Holbrook made off with a 25-10 win. Will the Roadrunners repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
