Softball Recap: Dunedin Now 10-3 over Last 13 Games

Dunedin's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They never let the Lakewood Spartans get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory. Considering the Falcons have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Charlotte Fleeman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Lyla Griffey was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Riley Millican, who earned two RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.

Dunedin has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Lakewood, they are on a 23-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Coming up, Dunedin will venture away from home to face off against Canterbury at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Crusaders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.59 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of. Lakewood does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
