Ocoee had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Umatilla Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Amber Vance was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. In other batting news, Ocoee got a massive performance out of Kylie Holden, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Holden continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Trista Fitzpatrick, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI and one double.
Ocoee's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Umatilla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.
Ocoee has already played their next contest, a 19-3 win against West Orange on the 4th. As for Umatilla, they will head out to face off against Cornerstone Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ducks will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
