5A District 12 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Lely moved up to 327 from 358 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A District 12. The Trojans were able to make move up by beating Palmetto Ridge 47-0.
Lely took down the Bears 47-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Golden Gate's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Taylor Anderson threw for 115 and three touchdowns and Breon Brown had 52 yards receiving. On the ground Alex Garcia chipped in 38 yards. Dominic Enyart helped Golden Gate's passing attack out by catching three balls for 34 yards.
Immokalee's Tshumbi Johnson and J.C. Jackson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 887 yards this season, while Jackson, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 21 catches for 333 yards. Brown from the Titans leads the league in rushing with 474 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Immokalee takes on second place Golden Gate. Last week, the Indians, while Golden Gate bested Gulf Coast.
There should be lots of points scored when Mike DiGrigoli's team and Immokalee face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Titans comes in having scored 123 this season, while Jerrod Ackley's team has scored 254. Golden Gate scored 28 points last week as it topped the Sharks.
Stacey Stewart's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,192 from 6,944. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 47-0 victory over Palmetto Ridge last week.
