Even though the Vasquez Mustangs scored an imposing 78 points on Wednesday, the St. Monica Academy Crusaders still came out on top. St. Monica Academy snuck past the Mustangs with a 82-78 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for St. Monica Academy.
Vasquez's loss came despite strong showings from Gavin Battey and Noah Rowley. Battey scored 30 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Rowley scored 30 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Battey has scored all season. Adam Wyganowski was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.
St. Monica Academy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-10. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 83.0 points per game. As for Vasquez, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-9.
St. Monica Academy has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on February 1st. Vasquez does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
