Hozho Academy is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Oak Grove Classical Academy is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Wolves will welcome the Owls at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hozho Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
While Hozho Academy's win against Rehoboth Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wolves had just enough and edged out the Lynx 4-3 on Friday.
Keihin Kirk and Adrian Ternes made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Kirk struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Ternes tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Kirk went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Ternes got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Philip Elkins, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Oak Grove Classical Academy lost 20-13 to Rehoboth Christian on Tuesday.
Brody Prochnow and Ben Fernandez did some serious damage despite the final result: Prochnow went 1-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Fernandez got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was Prochnow's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of James Schroeder, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Hozho Academy's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for Oak Grove Classical Academy, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-8.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hozho Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Oak Grove Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .400.
