The Hollins Royals will head out on the road to face off against the Northeast Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Hollins focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Tuesday.
Hollins suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Gibbs, falling 78-42. While losing is never fun, Hollins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 386th, while Gibbs is ranked 32nd).
Despite the defeat, Hollins had strong showings from Malachi Miller, who scored 18 points along with two steals and two blocks, and Josh Castallani, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Miller is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played.
Meanwhile, Northeast's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Admiral Farragut by a score of 72-70. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Northeast has suffered yet this season.
Hollins' loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Northeast, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Hollins, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 80-66 loss to Northeast when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Hollins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
