On Friday, The Laurel Spartans got themselves on the board against the Northwestern Wildcats, but the Northwestern Wildcats never followed suit. They strolled past the Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 18-0. Laurel didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
Leading Laurel to victory were King james Corbett and Nathan Watkins. Corbett rushed for 64 yards on only seven carries, while Watkins rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Laurel's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Northwestern, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Laurel is on the road again on Friday and play against Bladensburg at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Bladensburg is ranked 171st, while Laurel is ranked 183rd). As for Northwestern, they will be playing at home against Wise at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wise is coming into the match hot, having won their last seven games.
