Cleveland is 0-10 against Ida B. Wells since May of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Guardians at 5:00 p.m. Cleveland will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Cleveland got the win against Franklin by a conclusive 14-3.
Quinn Renauer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Cleveland got a massive performance out of Steven Rogosin, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Rogosin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Arlo Oetting, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI and one run.
Cleveland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 8.8.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Ida B. Wells and McDaniel had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Guardians put the hurt on the Mountain Lions with a sharp 16-3 win on Wednesday. Considering the Guardians have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Jackson Poole, who fired off four doubles, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-5. He has become a key player for Ida B. Wells: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Cam Hammer was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and four RBI.
Ida B. Wells pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cleveland, their record now sits at 7-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cleveland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ida B. Wells struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cleveland might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Ida B. Wells in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
