Westside had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-12 to make it four. They came up short against the Hector Wildcats, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 4-3 loss back in March.
Westside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ayla Highfill, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
As for Hector, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.
On Hector's side, Sarena Myers made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Myers has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Hector let Abigail Dodson and Addison Campbell run wild. Dodson went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs, while Campbell went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Dodson has posted since back in April of 2025. Mylah Myers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Westside will take on Danville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Little Johns have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.67 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hector, they will square off against Acorn at 11:08 a.m. on Friday.
